Marine is a title that is earned not given. As we go through life Active Duty, Reserve or Veteran we are always Marines even after death. Semper Fi, always faithful. Faithful to our God to our Country and to the Corps!

In the Marine corps you're a non-commissioned officer as an e-4 or a corporal but in every other branch of service you are not an NCO until you become an E5 or a sergeant .. I'm not sure what an E5 is in the Navy or Air Force.. I think petty officer might be an E5 in the Navy but I'm not 100%
